NBTE Develops Software for Ranking TVET Institutions

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has developed software for the ranking of technical and vocational education institutions under its purview.

Reacting during the demonstration of the working of the software at the Board’s secretariat in Kaduna, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Masa'udu Adamu Kazaure expressed satisfaction with the software, stating that management will appoint a staff who will be trained and dedicated to manage the Board’s website that the software will be hosted for effective administration.

The Executive Secretary He thanked the Director of Academic Planning, Research, Statistics and ICT, Engr. Usman Danjuma and all other staff that worked with the NG-ICT Forum Consultant to deliver on the project.

Earlier, the ICT Consultant that developed the software, Mr. Joshua Joshua in a PowerPoint presentation explained that the software which is expected to be accessed by admission seekers into TVET Institutions in Nigeria and other stakeholders in the TVET sector and the general public has categorized the institutions into Federal, State and Private owned with other indices such as location and other data that will give useful information about the ranking of various institutions.

He also stated that the NBTE website will have a super admin and normal admin but it is only the super admin that will have the authority to input changes on the existing data on the website.

He explained further that the software is flexible to allow easy modifications on the data whenever the authorities consider it appropriate.

All observations and questions by NBTE Management and staff members that witnessed the presentation were also clarified and the Management is now set to formally adopt the software for use.

The presentation was witnessed by Directors of Special Duties, Mal. Suleiman Gwarzo; Monotechnics Programmes, Mrs Helen Odunta; Human Resources, Mal. Lawal Hafiz; Academic Planning, Engr. Usman Danjuma and other members of staff of the department of Academic Planning, Research, Statistics and ICT.
