The National Board for Technical Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zaptrance World Wide Systems Ltd for the Development of Quick Response Code (QR Code) Generating System for use on certificates issued by TVET Institutions.
The Executive Secretary, Prof Idris M. Bugaje said at the M.O.U signing ceremony that the system will enable schools to generate unique QR Codes for insertion on certificates. He said this will enable prospective employers, Institutions etc to scan the code for authentication and determine instantly if the certificate is genuine. He urged Institutions to key into this initiative to fast track their certificate verification processes and eliminate racketeering.
According to him, the Board is often inundated with requests from Local and International Organisations for confirmation of certificates issued by TVET Institutions. He pointed out that the Board only give information regarding the accreditation status of the programmes and assured that with the present arrangement, stakeholders will be able to ascertain the authenticity of the certificates with ease. "This system will eliminate problems and allow organizations to instantly verify genuineness of certificates from any part of the globe.
