We wish to bring to the attention of the general public (especially heads of TVET institutions and proprietors of private TVET institutions) of an impersonation case against the Executive Secretary NBTE by one Austin Okereke and his team. The activity of this criminal minded person includes among others presenting himself as the Executive Secretary of NBTE and writing fake letters with a view to extort the polytechnics and similar institutions by taking advantage of the Board's accreditation exercise. This fraudulent act has been going on for a while. The GSM number he uses for such criminal act is 0813 959 0392.
We therefore wish to draw the attention of the General Public to this criminal activity by him and his likes. NBTE is a Federal Government Agency and all payments to the Board are made through the Board's TSA account.
In compliance with the Federal Government's directives, NBTE no longer operate any account with any commercial bank nor uses any consultant to collect money for its activities including accreditation. If you receive any request requesting you to pay money for accreditation/resource inspection into any account other than NBTE's TSA account, please report to the nearest law enforcement agency. The security agencies have been alerted on this fraudulent act.
For the avoidance of doubt, guidelines for approval of Technical and Technological Institution can be found from the following link in the Board's website https://www.web.nbte.gov.ng/guideline for establishing a TVET institution.
